What We Do

First American is seeking a Staff ServiceNow Software Engineer. This person will lead the architecture, development, and optimization of our ServiceNow platform. An ideal candidate has strong technical expertise, a product mindset, and takes a hands-on approach to building high-quality and sustainable software products. As a Staff Software Engineer, you will lead projects as part of small, focused engineering teams, to build fast, clean, reliable code that drives business value for our customers.

What You'll Do:
  1. Code: You will actively contribute to the codebase, designing, developing, testing, and deploying code supporting our most complex functional areas. You will architect and implement modern, scalable, highly available, and fault-tolerant services.
  2. Lead Technical Strategy: Develop a clear vision for the ServiceNow platform and a long-term strategy to achieve goals. Provide technical expertise in software development and make informed decisions about architecture and design. Advocate for technology investments.
  3. Collaborate/Partner: Partner with product management to envision future features, plan roadmaps, and define solution architectures aligned with business needs. Facilitate design discussions and reviews.
  4. Operational Excellence: Implement high-quality, secure, and observable solutions. Contribute to reviews of design, code, artifacts, and metrics.
  5. Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement through feedback, architectural standards, proof-of-concepts, and emerging technologies.
What You'll Bring:
  • 8+ years in software engineering, with experience in large-scale distributed systems.
  • Experience with engineering best practices, automation, and building large-scale back-end services and APIs.
  • Knowledge of data structures, asynchronous architectures, and distributed algorithms.
  • Understanding of software engineering principles and infrastructure operations.
  • Ability to build robust, reusable solutions and mentor teams.
  • Experience with deployment, observability, and cloud-native environments.
  • Data-driven approach using metrics for continuous improvement.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
Preferred Experience:
  • Proficiency in JavaScript, HTML, CSS, AngularJS; ServiceNow scripting languages a plus.
  • Experience with relational databases, REST/SOAP APIs, XML, JSON.
  • Knowledge of ServiceNow security settings and platform best practices.
  • Certifications like CAD or CSA are highly desirable.

Pay Range: $145,000 - $212,660 Annually

This range is an estimate based on various factors including experience and location.
