Job summary

Burke & Lamb, PC, a growing CPA firm in New Bedford, MA, seeks a Staff/Senior Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate has 2–5 years of public accounting experience and will handle tax returns, financial statements, and client advisement with proficiency in MS Office, QuickBooks, and ProSystem fx Tax/Engagement.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of public accounting experience.
• Experience preparing individual, corporate, fiduciary, and nonprofit tax returns.
• Financial statement preparation; year-end closings; tax consulting.
• Strong communication skills and proficiency in MS Office, QuickBooks, ProSystem fx Tax/Engagement.

Responsibilities

• Prepare individual, corporate, partnership, fiduciary and nonprofit tax returns
• Trial balance preparation and analysis of trial balance accounts
• Prepare Tax Planning and Projections.
• Audit, review and compilation engagements for various types of clients
• Reconciliation and posting of the general ledger
• Month-end, Quarter-end, and Year-end closing
• Tax and GAAP research

Burke& Lamb, PC a growing CPA firm is seeking a highly motivated professional tojoin our team in New Bedford, MA. With offices in New Bedford, MA andNantucket, MA we service clients throughout the South Coast, Cape, and the Islands.We provide audit, accounting, tax and management consulting services to adiverse group of clients, including but not limited to commercial fishing, restaurants,nonprofit organizations, manufacturing, healthcare, petroleum distribution andretail, and professional services.

Theideal candidate should have at least 2 to 5 years of public accounting experience.The staff accountant should possess strong communication skills and beproficient in computer programs such as MS Office, QuickBooks and ProSystem fxtax software. Experience should include preparation of individual, corporate,fiduciary, and nonprofit income tax returns; financial statement preparation;year-end business closings, and general business and tax consulting.

Requirements:

• 2+years of public accounting experience, preferred
• Individual, corporate (S& C Corp), fiduciary, and nonprofit tax return prep experience
• General ledger andtrial balance experience
• Detailoriented with the ability to manage multiple engagements simultaneously
• Knowledgeof QuickBooks
• Proficientin Microsoft Office and Adobe
• Knowledgeof CCH ProSystem fx Tax and ProSystem fx Engagement a plus
• Strongwritten and verbal communication and organizational skills.
• Abilityto work in an environment with changing priorities and deadlines
• Abilityto conduct tax research utilizing checkpoint tax software and governmentwebsites

EDUCATION:

• Bachelor'sdegree in Accounting, or equivalent
• Master’sdegree in Accounting or Taxation preferred
• CPAor CPA candidate preferred
