Job summary

Harvey is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join the Security Engineering team as a founding member. You will build the security foundations for AI agent work, including execution environments and sandboxing across product and internal platforms.

You will lead design, implementation, and delivery of secure agent infrastructure, balancing containment with performance, reliability, and cost, while mentoring engineers and shipping production systems.

Qualifications

• 10+ years developing and running production software.
• Strong software engineering skills in Go, Rust, Python, or C++, with Linux, networking, and containerized infra experience.
• Deep expertise in execution security (sandboxing, OS isolation, containers, or untrusted code platforms).
• Experience building shared platforms, services, or libraries and guiding teams to adopt them.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure and distributed systems, including observability and failure handling.
• Fluency with AI-assisted engineering and agentic workflows and risk reasoning.

Responsibilities

• Set the technical direction for secure agent execution across Security, Infrastructure, and Product Engineering.
• Design, build, and operate a platform for security agents to discover and validate vulnerabilities within authorized targets and boundaries.
• Build reusable controls for agent tool use, code execution, network and filesystem access, and data handling policies.
• Partner with product sandbox and internal agent platform teams to adopt secure architectural practices.
• Enable internal use of open-source models with protections around model serving and data access.
• Develop adversarial tests, telemetry, and containment verification mechanisms.
