Job summary

Tangier Partners is seeking a Security Engineer in San Francisco to build the security function from the ground up for a new AI research startup. The role owns the security platform across applications, cloud, and IAM, with a focus on establishing mature security controls in a fast-scaling environment.

The candidate will lead security initiatives across cloud providers, DevSecOps in Kubernetes, and compliance efforts such as SOC2/ISO 27001, with founding-stage engineering experience preferred.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in security engineering at scale.
• Experience building security functions, not just contributing to them.
• Deep fluency across application security, cloud security, IAM, and DevSecOps in Kubernetes native environments.
• Hands on experience leading SOC2 or ISO 27001.

A newly launched AI research startup is looking for a Security Engineer to build its security function from the ground up. The team is building systems to discover new physics at scale, with a mission to commercialize breakthroughs safely and make them publicly available.

This role will take direct ownership of the security platform build, including Application, Cloud, and IAM security, across the company's AI platform.

What we're looking for:

• 8+ years in security engineering at scale, with a track record at companies known for strong security maturity
• Experience building security functions, not just contributing to them
• Deep fluency across application security, cloud security (GCP, AWS, or Azure), IAM, and DevSecOps in Kubernetes native environments
• Hands on experience leading SOC2 or ISO 27001
• Founding or early stage engineering experience
