Title: STAFF SCIENTIST

Employee Type:Other Academic

Department: Center of excellence-Cancer

Campus Location:CANCER CENTER/SETON BLDG./2025

Job Summary/Basic Functions

The Staff Scientist Staff Scientist will investigate the critical intersection of host metabolic health and tumor biology. Specifically, they will study how obesity-induced systemic changes drive metabolic reprogramming and epigenetic remodeling in prostate cancer. Research will place special emphasis on how these dual mechanisms converge to promote therapeutic resistance and lineage plasticity, with the goal of identifying novel therapeutic targets.
The Staff Scientist will lead projects investigating how obesity alters the prostate tumor microenvironment, focusing on crosstalk among adipocyte-derived factors, tumor metabolism, and epigenetic states (e.g., histone modifications, DNA methylation). Uncover pathways that promote survival and lineage plasticity under therapeutic stress, including androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) and next-generation anti-androgens. They will be responsible for Multi-Omic Integration: Design and execute high-throughput multi-omic workflows that integrate data from RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq, and metabolomics. The Staff Scientist will also apply CRISPR-Cas9 genetic screens and targeted gene editing to functionally validate candidates that drive drug resistance, conduct independent computational analyses and develop pipelines to interpret complex multi-omic data and, help with the preparation of high-impact manuscripts and actively pursue extramural funding.
