Job summary

Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, OH is seeking experienced RNs for part-time positions (24 or 30 hrs/week) with 3p–3a or 7p–7a shifts. Pay: $47.80/hr base plus $2/hr critical care pay after orientation; benefits eligible.

Requirements include Ohio RN license, BSN preferred or Associate degree commit to BSN within 5 years; CPR certification, with potential to obtain NRP, PALS, ACLS as determined by manager.

Qualifications

  • BSN required or Associate degree with commitment to obtain BSN within 5 years of hire.
  • Licensed RN in Ohio.
  • Current CPR certification; willing to obtain NRP, PALS, ACLS or other certifications as needed by manager.

Responsibilities

  • Provides nursing care using a Family Centered approach.
  • Assesses individualized patient needs and communicates with LPNs, PCAs, unit coordinators, and Allied Health staff.
  • Plans, implements, educates and evaluates care using Evidence-Based Practices.
  • Documents according to organizational standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintains quality and safety initiatives and participates in data collection or audits.

Job Description Summary

Assists patients to move rapidly, uneventfully, and as effectively as possible through their episode of care while maintaining quality and safety as a priority. Delegates, directs, oversees and provides developmentally appropriate patient care. Practices professional nursing and promotes patient advocacy in accordance with the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses and maintains a current Ohio Nursing License.

Job Description

Essential Functions: Provides nursing care using a Family Centered approach. Assesses individualized patient needs. Communicates patient care needs and priorities to assigned Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Patient Care Assistants (PCAs), Unit Coordinators, and Allied Health personnel. Plans, implements, educates and evaluates care using Evidence-Based Practices. Utilizes Therapeutic Communication while monitoring the physical, psychological, and social needs of patients and families. Engages in the “workplace community” by staying aware of changes, participating in data collection or auditing, understanding Quality Improvement, and representing staff at relevant meetings and then reporting important information and updates back to staff. Documents according to organizational standards, policies, and procedures.

Education Requirement

BSN; Associate degree with commitment to obtain BSN within 5 years of hire.

Licensure Requirement

Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio.

Certifications

Current CPR certification required. Must be willing to obtain and maintain NRP, PALS, ACLS, APHON or other necessary certification as determined by your manager based on business unit.
