Job summary

Nebraska Medicine is seeking a Staff RN for the Urology Clinic on the first shift in Omaha. This 40-hour position runs Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., focusing on coordinated patient care in a busy specialty clinic.

The role requires strong assessment, collaboration with physicians and teams, and the ability to manage diverse duties from admission to discharge with compassion and accuracy.

Qualifications

  • ADN or Nursing Diploma is required.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Demonstrate initiative, teamwork and flexibility.
  • RN license in Nebraska or compact state.
  • BLS certification from an AHA endorsed program (effective for new hires starting Jan 1, 2023 or later).
  • PALS certification department dependent.
  • For ED, PALS within 6 months of hire or transfer date.
  • ACLS certification within 6 months of hire or transfer date (department dependent).
  • TNCC or ATCN within one year of hire or transfer date (department dependent).

Job Description

Provide, prescribe, delegate, and coordinate nursing care with other health care providers to meet holistic care needs of a designated group of patients. The environment of care may be long‑term, emergent, critical, acute, interventional, or procedural driven.

Required Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in nursing (ADN) or Nursing Diploma.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Demonstrate initiative, teamwork and flexibility.
  • Registered Nurse license in Nebraska or current compact state license.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an American Heart Association endorsed program (effective for new hires starting January1,2023 or later).
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification department dependent.
  • For Emergency Department, PALS certification within 6 months of hire or transfer date.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 6 months of hire or transfer date (department dependent).
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) or Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses (ATCN) within one year of hire or transfer date (department dependent).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Direct patient care experience.
  • Prior experience in one or more of the following areas: cardiology, cardiac drip management, critical care, emergency department, medical‑surgical, obstetrics, cardiovascular rehabilitation, telemetry, oncology, neonatal intensive care, pediatric acute care, solid organ transplant, cath lab, EP lab, quality assurance related to health care, perioperative and special procedures in applicable nursing specialty area.
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) or Master’s of Science in Nursing (MSN).
  • Courses including STABLE, smoking cessation counseling, basic critical care, or other specialty training courses.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Proficient with use of email applications.
  • Proficient with departmental equipment and systems such as patient care equipment, telecommunication systems, information systems, pneumatic tube system, general patient care supplies, and transport equipment.
