Job Description: Registered Professional Nurse at Northside Hospital
The Registered Professional Nurse at Northside Hospital independently plans and provides professional nursing care to patients in accordance with physician orders, established guidelines, and the scope of practice as defined by the Georgia Nurse Practice Act.
The Northside Hospital Staff Registered Nurse manages the care of an assigned group of patients in line with Northside Hospital's philosophy and policies. The practice of all professional nurses at Northside Hospital embodies values such as collaboration, communication, coordination, integration, and empowerment.
Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate competency in clinical practice, set goals independently for managing complex patients and families, utilize the nursing process, and adapt care to rapidly changing patient conditions.
- Provide safe, competent patient care, stay informed of current care guidelines, and communicate effectively with peers, colleagues, providers, and others.
- Implement the nursing process independently for patients and families, integrating evidence-based practice resources into clinical care.
- Operate unit-based patient care technology safely and efficiently, manage organization’s computerized information systems, and pursue ongoing personal development.
- Delegate care appropriately.
- Serve as a preceptor for new employees and students.
- Set personal goals for lifelong learning and professional development.
- Conduct self-assessment of performance and identify learning needs.
- Identify ethical issues and take appropriate actions.
- Coordinate care with other healthcare providers through referrals and consultations.
- Utilize evidence-based guidelines and policies to inform practice.
- Participate in quality improvement activities aimed at patient safety and care quality; contribute to ongoing readiness initiatives.
Safety and Infection Control:
- Implement infection control procedures and document according to hospital policies.
- Practice safety techniques per hospital/department policies, report unsafe conditions or incidents immediately.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Licensed as an RN in Georgia, in good standing without limitations.
- Certified in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) by the American Heart Association.
Preferred:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
- At least two years of experience as an RN.
- Additional certifications such as ACLS, PALS, NRP, or other clinical specialties.
- Visual color acuity relevant to specific unit roles.
