Job Summary:
Kaiser Permanente nurses are guided by an integrated nursing model that places patients and families at the center. The Staff Registered Nurse (RN) III practices professional nursing as defined by the Georgia Registered Professional Nurse Practice Act, organizational policies, procedures, and guidelines. The role involves providing nursing care to promote or restore health and prevent illness and injury. Collaboration with the Healthcare Team (HCT) and leaders ensures the delivery of high-quality, safe, effective, and efficient care.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Utilize the nursing process to assess patient health, determine diagnoses, set goals, and develop, implement, and evaluate care plans.
- Complete POE and address care gaps during patient encounters.
- Document patient data, actions, interventions, and responses accurately, following policies and guidelines.
- Assist with procedures and monitor patient responses during and after procedures.
- Engage patients, families, and caregivers in care coordination as a healthcare team member.
- Lead nursing responses to medical emergencies.
- Manage electronic messaging (InBasket) related to patient or provider requests, triaging as necessary.
- Initiate and monitor IV therapy, medication administration, and other nursing procedures, documenting appropriately.
- Assess health education needs, provide teaching and counseling, and evaluate effectiveness.
- Conduct follow-up calls for patients requiring ongoing care or outreach.
- Participate in quality improvement activities and initiatives.
- Contribute to departmental orientation, training, and competency validation for new staff.
- Lead performance improvement initiatives in the department or region.
- Perform procedures autonomously under provider supervision, evaluating patient responses.
- Serve as a preceptor, resource, and mentor for new team members and nursing students.
- Provide at least one training in-service annually.
- Engage in continuing education relevant to clinical practice.
- Utilize advanced skills for patient care, education, and consultation.
- Perform procedures such as cardiac stress tests, RN sonography, conscious sedation, or chemotherapy infusions under physician supervision.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
Experience:
- Minimum three (3) years of current RN clinical experience.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience in the area of specialty.
Education:
- Associate's degree in nursing.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
License, Certification, Registration:
- Registered Professional Nurse License (Georgia) required at hire.
- Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association required at hire.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support required at hire.
Additional Requirements:
- ACC/CDU: Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) at hire or within 6 months.
- Infusion Services: Biotherapy/Chemotherapy Certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Specialty Certification at hire or within 1 year.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
Notes:
- Requires floating between Southwood, Townpark, and Gwinnett ACCs.
