Job summary

Bryan College Of Health Sciences is seeking a registered nurse to provide direct patient care in a fast-paced clinical setting. You will monitor patient status, administer medications, and collaborate with physicians and the care team to maintain safety and quality.

Qualifications

  • Nebraska RN licensure required.

Responsibilities

Job description

Summary

Responsible for all aspects of direct patient care while maintaining high performance level in quality, service, critical nursing skills and critical thinking. Provides leadership by delegating and working cooperatively and collaboratively with ancillary nursing and other patient team personnel in maintaining standards for professional nursing practice and professional nursing performance in the clinical setting.

  2. *Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
  3. *Follows the five (5) medication rights and reduces the potential for medication errors.
  4. *Monitors the hemodynamic status of patient and correctly interpret the results.
  5. *Performs a head-to-toe assessment on all patients and reassessments as per policy. This includes pediatric, geriatric and the general patient population.
  6. *Adequately assess and reassess pain. Utilizes appropriate pain management techniques. Educates the patient and family regarding pain management.
  7. *Formulates an individualized plan of care, revises plan as indicated quickly and accurately by the patient’s response to treatment and evaluates overall plan daily for effectiveness.
  8. Formulates a teaching plan based upon identified learning needs and evaluates effectiveness of learning, family is included in teaching as appropriate.
  9. Identifies the need to involve other disciplines in the patients care.
  10. Abilit to perform at maximum efficiency without compromising quality care.
  11. Participates in guidance and educational programs.
  12. Maintains an awareness of legal aspects of nursing, including accurate and timely documentation according to standards.
  13. Consults other departments as appropriate to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the patient’s needs.
  14. Assists physicians with procedures as appropriate.
  15. Monitors coworkers and voices concerns in a constructive manner to minimize errors.
  16. Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs of patients and their families. Functions as a liaison between administration, patients, physicians, and other healthcare providers.
  17. Maintains a good working relationship with all departments.
  18. Meets current standards and policies for documentation.
  19. Participates in performance improvement activities and/or committees.
  20. Assists in orientation and/or acts as a preceptor for new personnel.
  21. Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Current Registered Nurse licensure from the State of Nebraska or approved compact state of residence as defined by the Nebraska Nurse Practice Act required. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. BSN or current enrollment in BSN program preferred. Minimum of two (2) years of recent experience in a clinical care, acute care setting preferred.

OTHER CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS:

Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required. Bryan Health recognizes American Heart Association (for healthcare professionals), American Red Cross (for healthcare professionals) and the Military Training Network.

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required within six (6) months of hire.

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required within six (6) months of hire.

National Institutes of Health (NIH) Stroke Scale certification required within 6 months of hire.
