Job summary

Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, OH is hiring a registered nurse for the Cardiac Step-down Unit (H4A). This full-time night shift works 36 hours per week, 7 PM to 7 AM, with every third weekend and holiday rotation.

The role focuses on fast-paced pediatric cardiac care across ages from infants to adolescents. You will provide family-centered nursing, assess patient needs, plan and educate, document per standards, and participate in quality improvement.

Qualifications

• BSN or Associate degree with commitment to obtain BSN within 5 years.
• Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio.
• Current CPR certification required.
• Must be willing to obtain and maintain NRP, PALS, ACLS, APHON or other necessary certification as determined by your manager.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.

In the Cardiac Step-down Unit (H4A), we treat patients of all ages. We specialize in treating both surgically and medically, those patients with congenital heart defects. We also provide medical cardiac management for children and adolescents with heart and vasculature related disease, as well as perform heart, lung, and heart/lung transplants.

• We take care of all ages, however, on most days, approximately 75% of our population is under the age of six months.
• We are looking for detail-oriented nurses who can handle a fast-paced environment with a steep learning curve.

Job Description Summary

Assists patients to move rapidly, uneventfully, and as effectively as possible through their episode of care while maintaining quality and safety as a priority. Delegates, directs, oversees and provides developmentally appropriate patient care. Practices professional nursing and promotes patient advocacy in accordance with the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses and maintains a current Ohio Nursing License.
