The Tone:

Miller’s Ale House operates a large chain of restaurants, and this position is pivotal in managing the financial integrity across the organization. This role ensures the accurate maintenance of accounting records for multiple restaurant locations, encompassing general ledger management, accounts payable oversight, and bank reconciliations. Furthermore, it supports corporate accounting functions by preparing various accounting statements and financial reports, directly contributing to the company’s financial health and operational efficiency.

What You’ll Actually Do

• Month-End Close: Perform comprehensive month-end close tasks, which include accurately posting and adjusting journal entries and accruals, preparing assigned account reconciliations, and diligently reviewing general ledger accounts to ensure financial precision.
• Tax & Audit: Prepare all necessary sales tax filings for assigned restaurant locations and conduct weekly Accounts Payable audits, meticulously ensuring that all transactions are recorded accurately and in compliance with company policies.
• Asset Management: Maintain detailed fixed asset ledger data for assigned restaurants, encompassing the accurate and timely input of new additions and disposals, which is crucial for asset valuation and depreciation.
• Cash & Cards: Review and verify house cash bank activity and balances, reconcile credit card receivables and associated fees, and manage the inventory and distribution of gift and complimentary cards, ensuring proper cash handling procedures.
• Restaurant Support: Liaise directly with landlords to perform rent calculations and ensure timely payments, while also providing essential accounting support and detailed research to field management as required, fostering strong inter-departmental relationships.

The Must-Haves

• Background: Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred or an Associate’s degree with equivalent experience.
• Experience: One or more years of experience in an accounting role, with working knowledge of general ledger systems.
• Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook; highly organized and detail-oriented; strong oral and written communication skills; demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities.
