Lightfield is recruiting applied researchers and research scientists to lead projects for building a Business World Model. You will own research from initial questions to measurable product impact and publications, shaping the lab's agenda, culture, and reputation as it grows.

You will report to the co-founder and Chief AI Officer and collaborate with AI engineers and GTM experts to translate research into production and business value.

Qualifikationen

• 7+ years of applied ML/NLP research in industry or academia.
• PhD or MS in CS/ML or related field, or equivalent research experience.
• Track record of research that shipped or was published: papers, models, datasets or benchmarks.
• Hands-on experience with LLMs (evaluation, agent design, retrieval); SFT/RL experience is a plus.
• Rigorous experimental design and ability to distinguish real improvement from noise.
• Strong Python and production codebase experience (TypeScript, Node.js, PostgreSQL).

Aufgaben

• Lead research projects in evaluation, benchmarks, deal prediction, simulation and self-improvement.
• Design empirical evaluations of Lightfield's AI system using LLM-as-judge, rubric-based grading, offline replay and A/B tests, on production and offline data.
• Build benchmarks for core GTM tasks such as list building, CSV imports, mail intelligence, record updates and outbound; compare to frontier models.
• Create simulated companies with users and streams of email, meetings and knowledge to evaluate the full system end-to-end.
• Develop techniques to improve as the system operates at world, company and user levels (reinforcement learning, fine-tuning).
• Model deal probability and the factors behind it, shipping them as product features.
• Improve cost and quality trade-offs across the AI system, including inference cost.
• Publish research blogs, open benchmarks, arXiv reports and papers; present at conferences.
• Help build a world-class research team by recruiting and mentoring teammates.
