Job summary

Primitive Labs, a venture-backed startup, seeks a Member of Technical Staff, Research in San Francisco and New York. You will own research directions from hypothesis to production, designing experiments and simulation architectures to model human decision-making with high fidelity.

You will publish papers, contribute to open-source, and collaborate with advisors from OpenAI, Google DeepMind, and NVIDIA to push the frontier of behavioral intelligence in AI-native software.

Qualifications

• Proven track record leading research in machine learning, agents, simulation, or cognitive science.
• Strong engineering skills to build production-ready systems for research ideas.
• Experience with large models and focusing on behavioral fidelity over simple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute rigorous experiments for agent behavior and translate findings into model optimizations.
• Build complex simulation architectures of real-world user decision-making.
• Train and evaluate behavioral intelligence agents against human data to ensure human-aligned decisions.
