This is a 60% limited appointment for approximately 12 months, with potential extensions or conversion to career status based on department needs. Appointment may be increased up to 100% depending on funding and operational needs.

Description

Under the direction of the PI, the incumbent is responsible for making independent and original contributions to research and experiments in neurobiology and neuroscience. The incumbent leads complex projects and works independently to design experiments.

Responsibilities include analyzing and interpreting data, troubleshooting methodology, reviewing literature, preparing publications, participating in grant proposal writing, and collaborating with faculty and lab members. The role also involves training lab staff, overseeing and guiding students and postdocs, and presenting research results.

Qualifications
  • Expert knowledge of neurobiology, molecular biology, and genetics, with relevant laboratory techniques, acquired through a Bachelor's in Biology or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to independently execute research projects, plan, organize, and perform experiments, and analyze data.
  • Proficiency in techniques such as immunocytochemistry, calcium imaging, fluorescence microscopy, confocal imaging, in vivo fiber photometry, stereological neuronal quantification, brain surgery, viral vector injections, in situ hybridization, and behavioral tests.
  • Experience in neurobiology research, especially related to neuroplasticity, neuropsychiatric conditions, and neurodegenerative disorders.
  • Experience in developmental neuroscience research.
  • Training and supervising undergraduate and graduate students and postdoctoral fellows.
  • Computer skills in data analysis and presentation, including MS Office and image analysis software.
  • Strong publication record and conference presentations.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty and researchers.
  • Advanced ability to utilize scientific literature and online databases for research.
  • Skill in developing, following, and troubleshooting lab protocols with minimal supervision.
  • Experience in preparing and editing scientific manuscripts and presenting research findings.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of lab safety, chemical handling, and confidentiality standards.
  • Willingness to uphold principles of community and teamwork.

Pay Transparency Act: Full pay range: $73,043 - $117,557 annually, prorated if less than 100% appointment. Hourly: $34.98 - $56.30.
