Job summary

UCLA Health is seeking a Staff Research Associate 1 to support the Animal Resources team. Under supervision, you will provide technical and paraveterinary services, assisting in breeding colony management and delivering veterinary support.

The position requires strong communication, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to follow GLP SOPs and containment practices in a bio-containment facility. The work is performed on site with standard hours.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate professionally and courteously by phone, in person, and by e-mail.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate with faculty and staff with varying levels of veterinary training.
• Ability to use or learn word processing software, e-mail, spreadsheets, the internet and other computer programs.
• Ability to work accurately and with detail.
• Skill in writing clear and concise correspondence.
• Must be able to euthanize rats and mice using CO2 chambers and follow related procedures.

Salary Range: $30.12 - $35.92 Hourly

• Knowledge of and the ability to apply the concept of contamination control practices including engineering, administrative, and procedural controls for the containment ofpathogens,including disinfection, and waste handling methods appropriate for work in bio-containment animal facilities up to BSL2 level with BSL3 practices.
