Job description

Staff Research Associate I | University of California San Francisco

The Staff Research Associate I position in the area of preclinical microPET/SPECT/CT and optical imaging is available within the UCSF Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging.

Under direct supervision and guidance from the supervisor, the successful candidate will perform management of a preclinical imaging laboratory, operation of preclinical imaging systems, and help train lab personnel for preclinical imaging.

The Department of Radiology & Biomedical Imaging at UCSF combines clinical excellence, trailblazing research, and outstanding education in a leading academic health sciences institution. Our faculty includes some of the foremost names in diagnostic and interventional radiology today.

The Department provides state-of-the-art clinical imaging for patients and conducts world-class scientific research to develop the next generation of clinical imaging tools and techniques to fight cancer and other life-threatening medical conditions globally.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $26.00 - $31.04 (Hourly Rate).

Required Qualifications:

  • BA/BS in a related science and knowledge of, or experience with, the basic techniques or methods required by the position; or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • The degree requirement is as of the start date of the employment. A student who is still in school toward a degree may apply as long as the degree will have been completed prior to the start date.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous exposure to research laboratory environment
  • Experience in imaging science research
  • Experience in animal research
  • Ability to analyze imaging data
  • Ability to work with a diverse team of researchers, scientists, and students
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Ability to work independently, exercising judgment and initiative
  • Demonstrated record of reliability and excellent attendance
