Job summary

RINA North America is seeking a Staff Railroad Engineer to join our Rail & Transit team in Houston, TX or Chicago/Lisle, IL. The role focuses on track design, civil design, and project delivery for freight, passenger, and transit rail projects.

Ideal candidates hold an EIT certification with 2+ years of rail civil design experience and are proficient in Bentley OpenRail Designer and related tools. Travel up to 25% may be required.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional engineering experience in rail, transit, or transportation civil design.
• EIT/EI certification is required.
• Familiarity with Class I railroad and transit agency design standards is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop horizontal and vertical track alignments and layouts.
• Design site grading, drainage, and earthwork for rail projects.
• Prepare design deliverables across preliminary to IFC milestones.
• Coordinate with railroads, DOTs, and utilities.
• Support QA/QC reviews and design calculations.
• Assist in project scheduling and cost estimates.
