Job summary

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, is seeking a Staff Scientific Computing Engineer to support the Education Unit of a new Quantum Computing Hub. You will develop educational materials, lead workshops, and train faculty, postdocs, and trainees to integrate quantum computing into their research.

The role emphasizes curriculum design, documentation, and collaboration across biomedical and chemical domains, with opportunities to contribute to grant writing and outreach.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 5+ years in applied mathematics, physics, chemistry, bioinformatics, computer science, data science, computational biology, computer engineering.
• Master's degree with 3+ years of relevant experience.
• Significant experience in independent scientific analyses and/or image data management.
• Experience in applied computational fields: ML, computational modeling, finite element analysis, computational geometry, HPC and distributed computing.
• Substantial programming experience in two or more common languages.
• Experience in the analysis and management of scientific data, incl. visualization, ML solutions, or statistical methods.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain educational materials for quantum computing, including tutorials, lectures, hands-on exercises, and training modules.
• Provide technical training and onboarding for faculty, postdocs, Sr. Researchers, and trainees.
• Create and deliver workshops, short courses, lectures, seminars, and hackathons.
• Design curricula tailored to biomedical and chemical applications with Hub leadership.
• Build documentation and best-practice materials for quantum algorithms, chemistry workflows, and hybrid pipelines.
• Support collaborative research by explaining quantum approaches to domain teams.
