THE ROLE:

We are seeking a Staff Quality Data Engineer - Diagnostics and Telemetry for AMD’s Quality Engineering team. You will lead efforts in designing our test diagnostics telemetry data collection to enhance our understanding of test failures that impact product quality. You will be able to learn complex testing methodologies and understand how existing diagnostics can be integrated effectively to provide Engineering teams with new insights into failure data.

THE PERSON:

You are a highly motivated engineer with a passion for test diagnostics data and a proven track record of delivering results in a fast-paced environment. You have a strong understanding of server-level hardware and software architecture and are proficient in data engineering tools and methodologies. You are also a team player with excellent communication and presentation skills.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with Engineering and Test Development teams to define log reporting schemas and understand critical data collection needs.
  • Ensure proper implementation of data collections across multiple manufacturing sites, funneling data into a centralized database.
  • Develop and optimize ETL pipelines to process and analyze large volumes of diagnostic telemetry data.
  • Work with test Diagnostics teams and Firmware teams to understand the low-level diagnostics data and use cases to build meaningful analytics.
  • Integrate new diagnostics and telemetry collections into the test flow.
  • Partner with IT to develop methodologies for collecting logs from various factories in a centralized location to build robust databases.
  • Design and maintain data infrastructure using Snowflake, Databricks, Apache Spark, and other relevant technologies.
  • Implement data quality assurance processes to ensure data accuracy and reliability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data accuracy and integrity, driving improvements for current and future designs.
  • Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements for greater scalability and efficiency.
  • Create and maintain documentation for data processes and infrastructure.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • In-depth knowledge of Snowflake, Databricks, Apache Spark, workload optimizations, and ETL pipelines.
  • Highly experienced with Python, SQL, and JSON query languages (e.g., JavaScript).
  • Proficiency with Power BI, Tableau, Grafana, or similar data visualization tools.
  • Experience with data warehousing and data modeling.
  • Strong skills in data integration and ensuring data consistency and integrity.
  • Expertise in performance optimization for data processing workloads.
  • Knowledge of data security and compliance with data protection regulations.
  • Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Proficiency with data integration tools like Apache NiFi or Talend.
  • Skills in monitoring and logging data pipeline performance and troubleshooting issues.
  • Self-motivated with a passion for data engineering and diagnostics.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with a proven track record of delivering results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Extensive experience with server component-level diagnostics and data analysis.
  • Detailed knowledge of server and silicon-level architecture in GPU compute products.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Computer, or Software Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.
