Job summary

PayPal is seeking a Staff Backend Python Engineer to design, build, and scale backend systems powering global transactions. You will lead architecture, mentor engineers, and Champion reliable, scalable software for PayPal’s payments platform.

The role requires deep distributed systems knowledge, cloud-native architectures, and hands-on Python (Django or Flask) with a focus on performance and security. Primary location is San Jose, CA.

Qualifications

• 5+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Acts as a project or system leader, coordinating the activities of other engineers on the project or within the system
• Determines the technical tasks that other engineers will follow
• Actions result in the achievement of customer, operational, program or service objectives
