Job summary

Palmer Theological Seminary is seeking a Staff Psychologist to provide comprehensive mental health services to students. This role involves clinical assessments, group and individual therapy, crisis intervention, and collaboration with campus partners. The ideal candidate will possess a Doctoral degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology and hold a Pennsylvania license.

Qualifications

The Staff Psychologist is a key member of the Cushing Center for Counseling & Psychological Services team, providing high-quality, comprehensive mental health and wellbeing services to currently enrolled Eastern students. This position also plays a key role in clinical training programs and works collaboratively with campus partners to support the overall mission of the university.

  • Provide clinical assessment, individual psychotherapy and group psychotherapy for students, and develop referral and treatment plans.
  • Provide crisis intervention with individuals and campus groups as needed; serve in on-call rotation for after-hours crisis support.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with legal and ethical standards.
  • Develop and conduct outreach programming and training presentations related to mental health and wellbeing for students, faculty, and staff.
  • Assist in supervision and training of graduate trainees and pre-licensed clinicians.
  • Collaborate closely with the Counseling Center Director to develop and implement CAPS policies, clinical protocols, and quality improvement initiatives focused on student mental health and wellbeing.
  • Attend regular counseling staff meetings, divisional meetings, and other Student Development and university-wide events and meetings as requested.
  • Assist with budget planning and resource management for CAPS.
  • Work collaboratively with the Counseling Center Director to cultivate a diverse, inclusive, and equitable work environment.
  • Maintain appropriate licensure.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an APA-accredited program.
  • Licensed in Pennsylvania.
  • Familiarity with electronic records systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of post-licensure experience providing direct counseling service, including crisis management.
  • Experience working in a higher education counseling setting, with clinical supervisory experience.

Work Environment:

  • The position is based in the University Counseling Center, with occasional participation in student events and campus health and wellness activities.
  • May involve occasional evening or weekend hours to accommodate student needs.
