Job description

Job Summary

Provides psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment; formulates individualized treatment plans for psychiatric patients with a variety of diagnoses; conducts routine forensic evaluations such as commitment and guardianship; and directs ongoing care of patients.

Responsibilities

• Provides clinical services including pharmacotherapy and psychotherapy.
• Communicates with other providers of mental health and medical services as appropriate.
• Maintains contact with family members as appropriate.
• Documents in the record by completing treatment plans, patient encounter forms, progress notes, clinical summaries, and other documentation in accordance with hospital policies.
• Provides interface with payers and managed care organizations through timely and effective reviews and necessary authorizations.
• Participates in program and hospital administrative activities (e.g., staff meetings, CQI, hospital committees).
• Maintains awareness of medicolegal/risk management issues.

Qualifications

• Education: Doctor of Medicine required or Doctorate in a related field of study required.
• Licenses and Credentials: Formal residency education in a program approved by the RRC of the ACGME; 3‑5 years of experience required.
• Experience: Diagnosis, psychotherapy, psychopharmacology, and other somatic therapies; formulation and conduct of treatment plans and patient‑specific programs.
• Computer Skills: Basic computer skills for electronic and online systems; required to complete electronic medical records training and demonstrate 80% accuracy on a competency test within 30 days of hire.

Physical Requirements

Standing, walking, sitting, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, gross and fine manipulation, touching, and vision are frequently required.
