Job description

Staff Product Marketing Manager, Payer Data

Datavant is a data platform company and the world’s leader in health data exchange. Our vision is that every healthcare decision is powered by the right data, at the right time, in the right format.

Our platform is powered by the largest, most diverse health data network in the U.S., enabling data to be secure, accessible and usable to inform better health decisions. Datavant is trusted by the world’s leading life sciences companies, government agencies, and those who deliver and pay for care.

By joining Datavant today, you’re stepping onto a high-performing, values-driven team. Together, we’re rising to the challenge of tackling some of healthcare’s most complex problems with technology-forward solutions. Datavanters bring a diversity of professional, educational and life experiences to realize our bold vision for healthcare.

Role Summary:

We’re looking for a Staff Product Marketing Manager for our Payer Data product suite who thrives at the intersection of product, customer, and commercial strategy. In this role, you’ll do more than just launch products—you’ll help shape how we communicate value, drive customer growth, and deliver an exceptional customer experience throughout the lifecycle. The Payer Data product suite is focused on delivering high-quality value to our Payer customers, by powering health data exchange and excellent services.

Product Marketing is responsible for bringing to life the value, differentiation and proof points of our products. Each Product Marketing Manager is responsible for being a product and market expert, cultivating our product messaging and being a champion of our prospects’ needs.

The team is lean, so you will be solely responsible for the product lines in the Payer Data product suite. That requires you to be an entrepreneurial self-starter with strong interpersonal skills. You will play a critical role in crafting our platform’s value story, partnering closely with Product, Sales, Customer Success, and Marketing teams to define expansion paths, enable cross-functional go-to-market excellence, and help us deeply understand and respond to the Voice of the Customer. The Product Marketer will report to the SVP of Product for our Payer Data vertical. They will own an ambitious charter to communicate the value of Datavant’s products for proven and emerging use cases for providers. This is a highly strategic, cross-functional role ideal for someone who is equal parts storyteller, strategist, and operator. If you want to have a front-row seat in developing strategies and messaging that communicates the value of Datavant’s products to the market, then this role is for you!

Responsibilities:

Drive Product Messaging and Positioning

  • Build a systematic understanding of our customers: Define specific customer segments and personas, and narrative for how Datavant’s products uniquely meet their needs
  • Articulate a compelling value narrative: Work closely with our product team to fully understand Datavant products and technology and craft clear, compelling messaging and value positioning for our solutions that communicates differentiated value across our customer base

Inform Strategic Growth Through Market and Customer Insight

  • Assist with researching and developing our market size, penetration, and potential growth opportunities
  • Build Competitive Intelligence: Develop deep expertise in the competitive landscape—tracking positioning, pricing, product capabilities, and market shifts—to inform strategic decisions and sharpen our differentiation
  • Drive Voice of the Customer (VoC): Lead cross-functional efforts to capture and synthesize customer feedback—across interviews, win/loss analysis, and usage data—to influence roadmap, messaging, and experience improvements

Shape the Go-to-Market Strategy

  • Transform the GTM Engine: Collaborate with Sales and Commercial Operations to refine value-based selling frameworks and elevate customer-facing sales motions
  • Define and Guide Expansion Paths: Develop commercial narratives and modular value propositions that support upsell, cross-sell, and multi-product strategies
  • Contribute to Strategic Product Vision: Support key deals and partnerships by helping craft high-impact product vision and roadmap narratives
  • Ensure Messaging Consistency: Drive alignment of messaging across all channels and touchpoints to ensure a unified go-to-market presence

Drive Customer-Centric Positioning and Narrative Development

  • Translate Product Into Value: Turn technical product updates into clear, benefit-led stories tailored to specific customer segments, with an emphasis on quantifying value
  • Shape the Customer Experience: Partner with Product and Customer Success to enhance onboarding, in-product education, and the full customer journey to increase adoption and satisfaction
  • Create Compelling Customer Experiences: Influence how customers engage with and perceive the products across all moments in the journey

Lead Product Launches and Market Activation

  • Own Launch Strategy: Plan and execute strategic product and feature launches tied to customer outcomes and market needs, ensuring cross-functional alignment
  • Develop Demos and Tools: Create interactive tools and demos to make products tangible, engaging, and credible in real-world contexts.
  • Produce Webinars & Campaigns: Build high-impact content and events to engage, educate, and inspire both prospects and customers.

Drive Thought Leadership: Lead development of case studies, whitepapers, and council-based activities to solidify Datavant as a thought leader in the healthcare data spaceEnable and Equip the Field

  • Train GTM Teams: Ensure Sales and Success teams can confidently explain and demonstrate the product with clear messaging and value articulation throughout the customer lifecycle
  • Manage Training & Content Systems: Own, operate, and drive engagement with Datavant’s learning management system and content infrastructure that power our customer-facing teams

What You Bring to the Table:

  • 8+ years of experience in product marketing, customer strategy, or GTM roles in B2B SaaS or health tech
  • Proven ability to turn complex products and customer needs into compelling value narratives
  • Strong track record partnering across product, marketing, sales, and customer success teams
  • Deeply customer-centric with experience driving Voice of the Customer programs
  • Analytical and strategic—able to connect customer insight to commercial opportunity
  • Exceptional written and verbal communicator, with a knack for simplifying the complex
  • Track record of success with taking new products and features to market
  • Driven, entrepreneurial, startup-ready - able to navigate ambiguity through strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Track record of developing deep and thoughtful thought leadership content

Bonus Points if:

  • You have direct experience in healthcare or regulated industries and experience with providers; working with Payers is a bonus
