Job summary

Airwallex is seeking a Staff Product Manager, Agentic Payments, based in San Francisco, to lead strategic bets shaping our global processing engine. You will work across initiatives like Airi and Stablecoin Acceptance, building AI-driven, cross-border payment solutions with fiat-to-crypto bridges and robust risk controls.

You will partner with AI/ML teams to deploy AI-driven checkout enhancements, define programmable spending, and drive architecture for scalable, compliant payments.

Qualifications

As the payments landscape undergoes its biggest paradigm shift in decades, our Payments Platform Team is expanding beyond legacy card rails to build the next‑generation infrastructure for global commerce. The Role

As a Staff Product Manager, Agentic Payments, based in our San Francisco office, you will lead the core strategic bets driving Airwallex's future processing engine. You will work across several key initiatives, such as our one‑click‑checkout tool Airi) and build out our Stablecoin Acceptance and Agentic Commerce products

In this role, you won't just optimize authorization rates—you will design how AI agents buy, sell, and settle globally, seamlessly bridging fiat card networks with instant stablecoin liquidity.

What You'll Do

You will lead high‑impact, zero‑to‑one and scale initiatives across three core payment vectors:

1. Agentic Commerce & Autonomous Payments Architecture

• Define Machine-to-Machine Payment Protocols: Build standard API/SDK primitives and execution layers enabling AI agents to programmatically initiate, authorize, and verify payment transactions without manual human friction.

• Integrate Airi into Core Payments: Partner with our AI/ML engineering teams to deploy Airi across the checkout lifecycle—utilizing LLMs and predictive models for real‑time routing, intent detection, dynamic risk scoring, and automated fraud defense.

• Programmable Spending & Identity: Architect fine‑grained authentication, spend controls, and identity verification mechanisms specifically tailored for autonomous software agents acting on behalf of businesses and consumers.

2. Stablecoin Acceptance & Hybrid Settlement

• On‑Ramp / Off‑Ramp Orchestration: Architect robust stablecoin (USDC, USDT, etc.) payment acceptance rails, enabling merchants to accept digital dollars globally with instant, low‑cost clearing and automated conversion into local fiat currencies.

• Unified Checkout Infrastructure: Embed stablecoin payment flows natively alongside traditional payment methods (Card Schemes, Local Payment Methods) within our single API integration, giving merchants zero‑friction access to Web3 liquidity.

• Capital Efficiency & Treasury Integration: Collaborate with Treasury and Liquidity Risk teams to leverage stablecoins for instant cross‑border merchant payouts and balance‑sheet optimization.

3. Scalability, Resilience & Industry Leadership

• Build Next‑Gen Foundations: Ensure our underlying payment engines scale to handle massive transaction volumes with 99.999% uptime, strict fault tolerance, and near‑zero latency.

• Drive Ecosystem Standards: Represent Airwallex in global standards bodies, scheme working groups, and developer communities defining protocol specs for agentic commerce and crypto‑fiat settlement.

Minimum Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional experience in Product Management, with significant exposure to high‑growth, fast‑paced fintech or tech environments.

• Proven track record building and scaling core payment infrastructure, acquiring products, card scheme integrations, or blockchain/stablecoin payment systems.

• Strong technical background with a Bachelor's degree or higher (preferably in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field).

Preferred Qualifications

• Deep Domain Expertise: Hands‑on experience with payment authorization flows, ISO 8583/20022 messaging, card scheme rules, or blockchain‑based token standards (ERC‑20, Solana SPL) and stablecoin architecture.

• AI & Agentic Systems Native: Demonstrated understanding of LLMs, tool‑use agents, multi‑agent workflows, and how software agents interact with APIs to execute real‑world economic actions. Familiarity and interest in agentic commerce and payment standards and protocols, like x402, A2A, AP2, and UCP.

• Technical Mastery: Exceptional capability to engage in deep architectural discussions with principal engineers, review API contracts, and evaluate transaction protocols.

• First‑Principles Thinking: Ability to decompose highly complex, unstructured problems (like autonomous machine payments) into clear, execution‑focused product roadmaps.
