Job summary

Synaptics Incorporated in Irvine, CA, seeks a Staff Product Engineer to lead new product introductions from concept through mass production and sustainment. You will manage ASIC supply chain vendors, coordinate with design teams, and drive qualification efforts to meet yield, test coverage, quality, and cost targets.

The role reports to the Director, Product and Test Engineering and offers a base pay range of USD 121,000–191,400 per year, with bonus eligibility and equity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (masters preferred).
• 8+ years of experience in semiconductor Product Engineering.
• Broad understanding of NPI flow, silicon test, reliability, quality, and failure analysis.
• Expertise in statistical analysis and data analysis software such as Exensio, GA, NPI, or equivalent.
• Knowledgeable in PVT characterization, guard-banding, and characterization report creation.
• Experience on ATE platforms such as Teradyne UltraFLEX, J750, or Advantest 93k.
• Willingness to travel internationally up to 10%.

Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of new product introduction, from concept to mass production and life cycle.
• Schedule product development, track progress, and maintain records.
• Define test, PVT characterization, and qualification plans for new products.
• Engage in design/testability reviews to promote low-cost implementations and meet DFT targets.
• Create qualification plans for consumer, industrial, or automotive standards.
• Design qualification test hardware such as ESD, HTOL & bHAST boards.
• Drive bench-to-ATE correlation for key parameters.
• Ensure new devices meet yield, test coverage, quality and cost targets.
• Define yield and manufacturing specs for wafer sort and system tests.
• Set robust test limits for proper test screening of devices.
• Validate test programs, hardware, ATEs, and OSATs via GRR analysis.
• Evaluate customer returns and perform failure analysis to close gaps.
• Drive continuous improvement to meet yield and quality targets.
• Communicate yield trends in cross-functional meetings and with management.
• Support business case development and early samples commitments with Marketing.
