The Mission

Forget the LLM hype — the bigger wave is physical AI. In defense, the stakes are as real as it gets: fragmented systems make teams miss threats, and clunky interfaces cost operators seconds they can't get back. This team has already proven its autonomy and simulation tech in real deployments — now they're turning that into scalable products, and design is central to how that happens.

The Role

You’ll own products across the Defense portfolio — moving between real-time operator interfaces at the edge and the enterprise tools engineers use to build, test, and ship autonomy.

You will:

• Own products in the Defense portfolio end to end — research, design, and shipped UI
• Design real-time interfaces for the edge — fast, low-cognitive-load UI built for contested, constrained environments
• Shape the trust model for agentic autonomy — how much latitude an operator hands off to an autonomous system, and how humans stay in the loop
• Build out the enterprise tools behind the mission — the platforms engineers use to build, test, and ship autonomy
• Help scale a design system that has to work for both split-second operator decisions and dense enterprise workflows

• 8+ years across genuinely different environments — no narrow specialists
• A real track record of shipping full products, not just features
• Strong research instincts — comfortable learning a brand-new domain fast
• A portfolio that shows you can handle dense, complex, high-stakes interfaces
• Curiosity about technical systems (no autonomy/defense background required)
• Sharp communication — you can brief a design review or a general officer with equal clarity
