Job summary

Google’s Data Scientist internship is designed for US-based students in their penultimate year pursuing a Master’s in a quantitative field. The role emphasizes quantitative analysis, data-driven decision making, and communication of insights to partners across Engineering and Product Management.

Job description

Participation in the internship program requires that you are located in the United States for the duration of the internship program.

This internship is intended for students in their penultimate academic year, who are pursuing a Master's degree program in a quantitative discipline (e.g., statistics, biostatistics, physics, applied mathematics, operations research, economics).

Google is a global company and, in order to facilitate efficient collaboration and communication globally, English proficiency is a requirement for this internship program.

• Sick Time: 40 hours/year (increased to 69 hours/year for Seattle) including 5 discretionary sick days per instance

Minimum qualifications:

• Currently pursuing a Master's degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Data Sciences, etc.).

Preferred qualifications:

• Currently attending a degree program in the US and available to work full time for 12 weeks outside of university term time.
• In their penultimate academic year or returning to a degree program after completion of the internship.
• Experience articulating product questions, pulling data from datasets (SQL or Python), and using statistics to arrive at an answer.
• Ability to translate analysis results into business recommendations.
• Interest and ability to work with data, metrics, analysis and trends and applied knowledge of measurement, statistics and program evaluation.
• Excellent problem-solving, written/verbal communication, and business judgment skills.
