Staff Power Electronics Embedded Engineer

Electric Hydrogen’s mission is to make molecules to decarbonize our world! Our outstanding people are our most important asset and will allow us to deliver hydrogen from renewable electrolysis for heavy industry, at prices below fossil fuels.

We are looking for a Staff Power Electronics Embedded Firmware Engineer to join our team. You're focus will be on new power electronics product development. You will implement firmware and control for new converters to support generation of green hydrogen and execute from prototype to production. You will work onsite at our office in San Jose, CA, and report to the Firmware Manager.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Develop and debug low-level real-time and low-latency firmware in C
  • Board bring-up, debug, test, and code optimization
  • Implement control algorithms for power electronics products
  • Implement software in the loop (SIL) and hardware in the loop (HIL)
  • Design and implement protocols for system communications of new products
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (electrical, mechanical, controls)
  • Write software specifications and design documents
  • Generate and maintain accurate project schedules and timelines

Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or the equivalent
  • 5+ years of professional firmware/software development experience
  • Experience with embedded systems: compilers, debuggers, IDE's
  • Experience with software in the loop (SIL) and hardware in the loop (HIL)
  • Very good understanding of control theory for power converters
  • Ability for software integration and troubleshooting
  • 5+ years experience with communication protocols
  • Experience reading and understanding schematics containing analog and digital signals that connect to microcontroller
  • Experience with oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers
  • Experience with PLECs or FPGA development

Compensation and Benefits | P5

$208,000 - $239,000 USD

Actual base salary offered to the hired applicant will be determined based on their work location, level, qualifications, job-related skills, as well as relevant education or training and experience.

Base salary is just one part of Electric Hydrogen’s total rewards package. We feel strongly that our team should not have to worry about having quality healthcare. In addition to the base salary offered, the hired applicant may receive:
