Job summary

Fanatics Betting & Gaming in New York seeks a leader to architect the stateful messaging and caching platform for our global services. You will define data persistence, replication, and distribution strategies for high-scale, multi-tenant systems leveraging Kafka and Redis.

You will drive IaC tooling, observability, and reliability across the middleware stack, coach engineers, and collaborate with product teams to align storage roadmaps with business growth. Domestic travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in CS/related field and 5+ years of professional software/ platform engineering experience.
• 5 years building and maintaining internal messaging infrastructure for high-scale traffic.
• 5 years using Kafka and multiple messaging technologies.
• 5 years Python development in cloud-native environments.
• 3 years using infrastructure as code (Terraform).
• 3 years integrating third-party systems into a cohesive platform.
• 3 years root cause analysis across distributed systems.
• 3 years developing applications in distributed environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead the long-term architectural roadmap for enterprise-grade messaging and caching platforms.
• Define strategy for data persistence, replication, and global distribution for business-critical apps.
• Architect high-scale, multi-tenant middleware focusing on Kafka and Redis.
• Design and govern IaC and self-service tooling for provisioning messaging and caching resources.
• Establish performance, capacity planning, and resource optimization standards.
• Provide technical oversight and mentorship to the platform team.
• Evaluate emerging technologies for scalability and reliability.
