Job summary

Fanatics Betting & Gaming is seeking a Staff Platform Storage Engineer to join our Platform Storage team in the United States. You will own a portfolio of production PostgreSQL databases and the Kafka/MSK streaming platform, acting as the embedded platform liaison for product teams.

You will drive reliability, performance, and scalability across data infrastructure, mentor engineers, and lead complex initiatives with cross‑functional teams in a fast‑moving gaming environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in platform, infrastructure, or database engineering with production PostgreSQL (RDS) at scale.
• Production Kafka (MSK or self-managed) experience, including CDC pipelines.
• Strong SQL fluency and schema-change review for multiple teams.
• Infrastructure as Code experience (Terraform).
• Ownership of production database reliability across multiple downstream teams.

Responsibilities

• Own liaison for production PostgreSQL/RDS instances: query review, schema changes, performance tuning, incident triage.
• Operate and evolve Kafka/MSK streaming platform with topic lifecycle management and CDC pipelines.
• Build self-service tooling to provision database and streaming resources without manual tickets.
• Drive platform stability projects: upgrades, root-ccause fixes, and cost optimization.
• Serve as escalation point for cross-team incidents tied to data infrastructure and performance issues.
• Represent Platform Storage in cross-org initiatives and standardization efforts.
• Mentor engineers and participate in on-call rotations.
