Job summary

Shield AI is seeking a Staff Platform Engineer to design and evolve scalable platform infrastructure spanning cloud, on-prem, and hybrid environments. You will build automation, improve CI/CD pipelines, and collaborate across security and engineering teams to enable secure software delivery.

This role emphasizes systems architecture, developer enablement, and the creation of paved paths for engineers to move quickly and safely within a mission-focused, defense-tech context.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years in platform engineering, DevOps, or SRE for large-scale systems.
• Deep hands-on experience designing and operating cloud or hybrid infrastructures.
• Strong IaC and automation experience (Terraform, Ansible, or similar).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, developer tooling, and automated deployment workflows.
• Strong Linux, distributed systems, and scripting/programming (Python/Go/Bash/PowerShell).
• Ability to own complex platform initiatives and collaborate across teams.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills across engineering groups.

Responsibilities

• Design and evolve scalable internal platform infrastructure across cloud, on-prem, and hybrid environments.
• Develop paved paths for secure, repeatable application deployment and platform capabilities.
• Build and maintain infrastructure-as-code frameworks to accelerate productivity.
• Improve CI/CD pipelines, artifact management, and developer platform tooling.
• Collaborate with security/infrastructure teams to embed controls and compliance.
• Enhance observability, reliability, and security across engineering systems.
