Job summary

Shield AI is seeking a Staff Platform Engineer to design and implement internal platforms powering engineering, autonomy, and enterprise operations across cloud, on‑prem, and hybrid environments.

In this senior IC role, you will lead platform architecture, automation, and developer enablement, partnering with security and infrastructure teams to raise reliability and security across engineering teams. The position may be based in San Diego, Dallas, Washington, D.C., or other Shield AI locations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent.
• 8+ years in platform engineering, DevOps, or SRE for large-scale systems.
• Hands-on design and operation of cloud or hybrid infrastructures.
• Strong IaC and automation experience (Terraform, Ansible, etc.).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and developer platform tooling.
• Solid Linux systems background and scripting (Python/Go/Bash).

Responsibilities

• Design and evolve scalable internal platform infrastructure across cloud, on-prem, and hybrid.
• Develop paved paths for secure, repeatable application deployment.
• Advance CI/CD pipelines, artifact management, and tooling.
• Collaborate with security and engineering teams to improve observability and reliability.
• Build internal tools and automation to streamline engineering workflows.
