Job summary

Our client in Columbus, OH seeks a Staff Platform Software Engineer to lead architecture and evolution of its robotics software platform. You will ensure scale from product development to deployment, aligned with FDA-regulated requirements.

You will collaborate with robotics, AI, quality, and regulatory teams, mentor engineers, and drive platform best practices across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years of software engineering experience delivering complex platforms or products.
• Experience in regulated/safety-critical industries (Medical Devices, Aerospace, Automotive Functional Safety, etc.).
• Hands-on with lifecycle standards such as IEC 62304, DO-178C, ISO 26262.
• Demonstrated architectural ownership and leadership across large-scale platforms.
• Experience implementing test-driven development and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Own architecture and roadmap for robotics software platform and hardware interfaces.
• Define platform-level architectural decisions for real-time performance, safety, and deployment.
• Lead development in compliance with IEC 62304 and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with Quality and Regulatory teams to maintain design history files and traceability.
• Establish coding practices, testing methodologies, and automated validation.
• Provide mentorship to platform, systems, and firmware engineers.
• Represent architecture in design reviews and regulatory audits.
• Collaborate with Robotics, Controls, and AI teams to meet product requirements.
• Balance performance, safety, reliability, maintainability, and scalability.
• Influence technical strategy and support commercialization efforts.
