Job summary

Apricity Robotics is hiring a Staff Platform Engineer to own the architecture of the robotics software platform that underpins control algorithms, AI, and safety layers. You will define how the platform interfaces with hardware and guides evolution toward a commercial fleet, while aligning with FDA design controls and IEC 62304 requirements.

You will lead platform-level decisions, drive real-time and safety-critical design, and mentor engineers.

Qualifications

• 10–15 years of software engineering experience, including a complex platform/product lifecycle.
• Experience developing software for safety-critical, regulated environments (IEC 62304/DO-178C/ISO 26262).
• Proven track record of architecture-level decisions for a software platform/framework.
• Experience with test-driven development and establishing team testing practices.

Responsibilities

• Own the architecture and technical roadmap for the platform software layer, including hardware interfaces and safety-critical subsystems.
• Document platform-level design decisions, real-time constraints, fault handling, safety interlocks, and upgrade strategies.
• Drive software development practices to meet regulatory standards and maintain design history files and traceability.
• Set and enforce standards for tests, code reviews, and documentation across the platform team.
• Provide mentorship and leadership to platform and firmware engineers.
