Persona AI is seeking a Staff Platform Engineer to own the developer infrastructure for a mixed C++/Python/Rust pipeline and ensure reliable builds across ARM64/AMD64 environments. The role focuses on CI/CD, artifact management, and secure, scalable deployments for robotics software in Houston.

You will work on a hands‑on platform team supporting lab networks, on‑prem fixtures, and robot deployment pipelines, with a strong emphasis on reproducibility and performance.

Qualifications

• 8+ years operating production infrastructure for a software engineering org, with direct ownership of CI/CD or developer platform work.
• Deep Linux systems fluency including networking, storage, systemd, kernel and driver debugging.
• Hands‑on ownership of a major CI system (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Buildkite, Jenkins) and an understanding of the build and cache layers underneath it.
• Real experience with a C/C++ build system at scale e.g., Bazel, CMake, or equivalent. Should include cross‑compilation and dependency pinning.
• Infrastructure as code (Ansible, Terraform) and a GitOps mindset: reviewable, reproducible, version‑controlled change.
• Fluent Python and Bash. You automate rather than document a manual procedure.
• Strong written communication. You leave behind decisions that outlast the conversation.

Responsibilities

• Own CI/CD and developer platform infrastructure to accelerate engineering.
• Manage the build graph for a mixed language monorepo and cross‑compilation targets.
• Operate self‑hosted CI runners including GPU/hardware‑attached runners and speedy PR feedback.
• Ensure reproducible builds with bit‑identical artifacts for future releases.
• Handle versioning, artifact promotion, and registry mirrors to support deployments.
• Deliver safe, resumable rollouts to robots, including offline deployments and canary strategies.
• Provide reproducible dev environments across laptops, shared machines, and robots.
• Support observability for fleet: metrics, logs, and traces from robot to dashboard.
