Job summary

Motive is hiring a Staff Engineer on the Developer Productivity team in Seattle. You will drive automated bootstrapping and delivery pipelines across SaaS, Mobile, and Embedded/IoT, shaping development tooling, build systems, and release pipelines.

You will lead self-service tooling, improve local development experiences, and coach engineers while scaling Kubernetes-based infrastructure using Tekton, ArgoCD, Github Actions, Terraform and Helm. Seattle presence preferred.

Qualifications

• 6+ years engineering experience in software systems.
• BS in Engineering or related field required.
• Experience building CI/CD infrastructure across multiple pipelines (Tekton, Prow, CircleCI, Jenkins, Github Actions).
• Proven ability to improve SDLC release processes.
• Experience streamlining local development environments (Ansible, local Kubernetes).
• Strong Git flow and versioning practices.
• Experience enabling reproducible builds across large orgs.
• Advocate for engineering best practices and developer experience.
• Experience with Golang, Ruby on Rails, Python or similar languages.
• Working knowledge of AWS and infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible, Helm).
• Experience with Kubernetes-based distributed release management.

As a Staff Engineer on the Developer Productivity team, you will spearhead the effort to build systems and automation that are the development, build, and delivery backbone of the Motive platform across SaaS, Mobile, and Embedded/IoT products. With a focus on secure and highly scalable distributed services, you will leverage technology such as Kubernetes, ArgoCD, Github Actions, Tekton/TPAC, Helm, Bash, Python and whatever the future may hold to advance an automated and easy to use and maintain ecosystem to support Golang, Ruby on Rails, and Python services (as well as Kotlin and C for our Mobile and Embedded friends!). What We’re Looking For

• 6+ years engineering experience
• B.S. Degree in Engineering or related field
• Building CI/CD infrastructure with multiple pipeline solutions over the years ( such as Tekton, Prow, CircleCI, Jenkins, Spinnaker, Github Actions, etc.)
• Improving the SDLC release process.
• Streamlining developer's local environments (Ansible, local kubernetes, etc.)
• Git flow and versioning strategy expertise.
• Working with mechanisms that facilitate reproducible builds across the org.
• Practicing and advocating for best engineering practices throughout the org.
• Experience improving the developer experience with multiple stakeholders in a large organization.
• Experience in Golang, Ruby on Rails, Python or similar languages.
• Working knowledge of AWS services and technologies.
• Experience with infrastructure as code and configuration management (Terraform, Ansible, Helm, etc.)
• Experience with large scale distributed release management processes.
• Experience in a containerized world with orchestration frameworks such as Kubernetes.

Bonus Skills to have

• Experience with Gerrit and Android OS (AOSP) build systems
• Experience with embedded systems builds and compiles
