What You Will Contribute
The Altos Cloud Platform Team seeks an experienced platform software engineer to lead the design, development, and maintenance of our cloud platform. You will work on cloud infrastructure and scientific computing systems used by Altos scientists, collaborating with software engineers, researchers, and IT teams to build scalable, reliable, secure, and efficient systems.

Responsibilities

1. Implement platform technologies for creating, deploying, and monitoring scientific applications.
2. Facilitate cloud technology adoption across scientific and research teams.
3. Understand user needs across scientific disciplines and build usable systems.
4. Optimize system performance and utilization.
5. Improve financial operations in the cloud for resource efficiency and cost management.
6. Administer high-performance file systems.
7. Enhance system reliability through automation, testing, and CI/CD.
8. Maintain documentation for development and deployment processes.

Who You Are

Minimum Qualifications

1. B.S. in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
2. 5+ years in Cloud Infrastructure, DevSecOps, or platform engineering.
3. Deep experience with AWS cloud solutions.
4. Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform, Ansible, or CDK.
5. Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
6. Proficiency in Python, Ruby, Bash, or similar.
7. Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools.
8. Passion for designing and evangelizing computing standards.
9. Ability to build scalable, secure, and robust systems.
10. Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Experience building platforms for software, data, and ML engineers.
2. Experience with automated testing at various levels.

Salary ranges vary by location: San Francisco Bay Area: $215,050 - $290,950; San Diego, CA: $202,300 - $273,700. Exact compensation depends on skills, experience, and location.
