Qualifications

• Must hold a valid license to practice medicine in New York State.
• Board certification in an American Specialty Board or eligible for certification exam.
• For Assignment Level II: one year of satisfactory experience in the specialty after qualification.
• For Assignment Level III: MPH or equivalent, with epidemiology/biostatistics credits; two years epidemiology experience after degree.
• For Assignment Level IV: NY license; residency in internal medicine/family practice/pediatrics; subspecialty board certification or eligibility; two years of related subspecialty experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform medical evaluations of potential Correction Officer candidates to assess fitness for duty.
• Review AIU testing and candidates’ medical documentation.
• Answer questions from candidates and staff regarding medical requirements and processes.
