Job description

Responsibilities

Oversee and provide appropriate medical services at Hazelden Betty Ford, including consultation with outside physicians and referrals as needed. Act as a liaison between nursing and medical staff, and educate patients on medical issues during treatment. Participate in on-call duties with the medical team. Supervise Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, and allied health professionals.

  1. Perform admission medical history and physical exams within 24 hours of patient admission.
  2. Prescribe non-controlled medications and controlled substances.
  3. Supervise patients regarding detoxification and other medical issues.
  4. Order and interpret lab tests.
  5. Maintain customer relations.
  6. Ensure a safe and secure environment for patients, staff, guests, and visitors.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Doctorate (MD or DO)
  • Must be 18+ years of age
  • Individual NPI (National Provider Identification)
  • Board certified in internal medicine, family practice, emergency medicine, or addiction medicine
  • DEA license
  • Current BLS certification (from American Red Cross or American Heart Association)
  • Experience in general medicine such as internal medicine, family practice, emergency medicine, or addiction medicine

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in addiction medicine practice
  • Experience in acute care
  • Board certification in ASAM (American Society of Addiction Medicine)
