NaphCare is seeking a Staff Physician to join the Perryville - Arizona Department of Corrections team in Goodyear, Arizona. You will provide high‑quality medical care to the inmate population, collaborating with correctional officers and a dedicated medical staff.

Responsibilities include performing physical exams, diagnosing illnesses, managing chronic conditions, responding to emergencies, and leading educational activities for the medical team.

Qualifications

  • Medical degree (MD or DO).
  • Current unrestricted physician license in STATE.
  • DEA registration in STATE.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family or Internal Medicine.
  • BLS CPR Certification (AHA).
  • Strong written and verbal communication and computer skills.
  • Ability to interact with patients from diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

  • Perform physical exams, diagnose illnesses, and manage chronic conditions.
  • Respond to medical emergencies throughout the facility.
  • Coordinate and participate in educational activities for medical staff.
  • Conduct rounds in medical and infirmary units.
  • Ensure compliance with State and Federal mandates and regulations.

Overview

NaphCare is hiring a Staff Physician to join our team of medical professionals in the Perryville - Arizona Department of Corrections in Goodyear, Arizona.

Pay rates range from $120.00 to $137.00 per hour based on shift, site needs, hire status, and experience.

Full Time and Part Time positions may be available!

As a Correctional Staff Physician, you will be responsible for providing quality medical care to meet the healthcare needs of the patients within the facility, while working alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals.

Responsibilities

The Staff Physician is responsible for performing physical exams, diagnosing and treating illnesses, and managing chronic conditions, ensuring care is provided to protect the rights, dignity, and health of our unique patient population. Responsibilities may include and not be limited to:

  • Formulating working diagnoses, developing and implementing treatment plans, and evaluating/modifying therapeutic regimens
  • Evaluating patients who have returned from off-site treatment
  • Responding to and initiating care for medical emergencies throughout the facility
  • Coordinating, leading and participating in educational and training activities related to medical care for patients
  • Conducting rounds in the medical and infirmary units
  • Ensuring compliance with State and Federal mandates and regulations, including court mandates and standards
  • Collaborating on with other medical professionals to ensure staff are responsive to patients' needs
Qualifications

Experience / Requirements / Qualifications / Skills

  • Medical degree (MD or DO)
  • Must hold a current unrestricted license as a physician in STATE
  • A current DEA registration in STATE
  • Must be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family or Internal Medicine.
  • Be able to obtain BLS CPR Certification (AHA required)
  • Ability to interact effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds, including those with mental health or substance abuse issues
  • Must possess strong written communication and verbal skills and have strong computer skills.
  • Experience in general medicine, a strong knowledge of current medical principles and practices, and the ability to collaborate with medical team
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards
  • Able to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
  • Display integrity, professionalism and be able to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
  • Must pass the facility's criminal background check and drug screening
