Job summary

The University of Dayton is seeking a Staff Physician to provide comprehensive primary health care for a diverse student population at the Student Health Center. You will evaluate, diagnose, and manage a wide range of acute and chronic conditions, injuries, and mental health concerns.

You will also deliver patient education, preventive care, and serve as a vital resource for students' holistic wellbeing within a Catholic Marianist university community.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited medical school with an MD or DO degree.
  • Successful completion of an accredited residency program.
  • Board certification.
  • Active and unrestricted license to practice medicine in Ohio or eligibility to obtain licensure (must be licensed before work can begin)
  • Current and unrestricted DEA certificate or eligibility to obtain
  • Proven experience working with young adults
  • Basic computer knowledge and skills

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive primary health care to University of Dayton students.
  • Evaluate, diagnose, treat and manage medical conditions across acute and chronic illness, injuries, mental health concerns.
  • Provide patient education and preventive care.
  • Support students' holistic wellbeing as part of the Student Health Center team.

Job description

Under the direction of the Medical Director and in accordance with established standards of medical practice, the Staff Physician provides comprehensive primary health care services to a diverse population of students at the University of Dayton. The physician is responsible for the evaluation, diagnosis, treatment and management of a wide spectrum of medical conditions, including acute and chronic illnesses, injuries, mental health concerns, and other issues specific to college-age individuals. They also provide patient education and preventive care and serve as an important resource in support of the students' holistic wellbeing.

Job Requirements:
  1. 1. Graduation from an accredited medical school with an MD or DO degree
  2. 2. Successful completion of an accredited residency program
  3. 3. Board certification
  4. 4. Training appropriate for college health
  5. 5. Active and unrestricted license to practice medicine in Ohio or eligibility to obtain licensure (must be licensed before work can begin)
  6. 6. Current and unrestricted DEA certificate or eligibility to obtain
  7. 7. Proven experience working with young adults
  8. 8. Basic computer knowledge and skills
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. 1. Board certification in a primary care specialty such as Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Adolescent Medicine
  2. 2. Minimum of one year post residency outpatient experience caring for adolescents and young adults
  3. 3. Recent clinical experience as a practicing physician (within the last 2 years preferred)
  4. 4. BLS/CPR certification
  5. 5. No history of significant medical license or other privilege restrictions
  6. 6. Strong interpersonal skills, as well as excellent verbal and written communication abilities
  7. 7. Experience in laboratory ordering and review, minor procedures (suturing, etc.), and dispensing of medications
  8. 8. Proven experience in the diagnosis and care of mental health, sexual health, and orthopedic conditions
  9. 9. Expertise in radiologic diagnosis and clinical microscopy
  10. 10. Electronic health record proficiency
  11. 11. Interest and experience in educating patients and students in pertinent health topics
  12. 12. Ability to work within the framework of a Catholic Marianist university and support views consistent with these ideals
  13. 13. Commitment to promoting diversity and a welcoming campus climate
  14. 14. Experience working effectively with international populations, diverse groups and individuals
  15. 15. Ability to work collaboratively as part of the Student Health Center team
