Staff Photonic Hardware Validation Engineer (Bay Area)

Lightmatter is leading the revolution in AI data center infrastructure with innovative photonics technology. We are seeking a Staff Photonic Hardware Validation Engineer based in Mountain View, CA, to develop and execute validation strategies for our next-generation products.

Responsibilities:

• Develop platform-level validation test plans for photonics-based AI platforms, chiplets, and laser modules.
• Define qualification and high-volume manufacturing validation processes.
• Collaborate with design, verification, software, and system teams to ensure validation readiness and include validation features during pre-silicon stages.
• Set up validation capabilities, automate tests, and perform validation in Lightmatter facilities.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or related field.
• At least 8 years of experience in photonics and semiconductor products, with 5+ years in silicon and system validation.
• Proficiency in Python or C++ for validation scripting.
• Hands-on experience with post-silicon chip and system validation, debugging, and triage.
• Deep understanding of photonics, laser design, and architecture.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in relevant fields.
• Knowledge of advanced packaging and laser modules.

We offer competitive compensation, with a salary range of $177,000 to $194,000 USD, and comprehensive benefits including health care, retirement matching, and flexible work arrangements.
