Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a Per Diem Staff Pharmacist to evaluate and interpret orders, compound, and dispense prescriptions per legal and professional standards. You will help identify, prevent, and resolve medication-related issues to ensure safe, effective care and cost-efficient therapy.

Located at Valle Vista Health System in Greenwood, IN, the role involves clinical services, collaboration with care teams, and supervising technicians, with pay ranging from $44.00 to $79.00 per hour.

Qualifications

• Active pharmacist license in good standing.
• PharmD or ACPE-accredited pharmacy degree.
• Experience with pharmacy systems and Microsoft Office is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review, verify, and dispense medication orders to ensure safety and accuracy.
• Provide clinical pharmacy services including MTM and pharmacokinetic dosing.
• Collaborate with physicians and care teams to optimize regimens for hospitalized patients.
• Oversee sterile and non-sterile compounding per USP and hospital standards.
• Monitor patient outcomes and medication safety, preventing adverse drug events.
• Supervise and support pharmacy technicians and interns.

The Per Diem Staff Pharmacist will have the opportunity to apply your clinical expertise by evaluating and interpreting medication orders, compounding, and dispensing prescriptions in accordance with legal and professional standards. You will play a critical role in identifying, preventing, and resolving medication-related issues to ensure safe, effective, and individualized patient care. Through the application of evidence-based protocols, you will promote clinically sound and cost-effective drug therapy, contributing to improved patient outcomes and advancing the standard of pharmaceutical care.

Hours of Operation

Monday through Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm Saturdays/Sundays/Holidays 8:00am to 2:00pm

About the facility

Since 1983, Valle Vista Health System, located in Greenwood, Indiana, has been providing high-quality behavioral health care to the community. We offer care for a broad range of psychiatric and addiction disorders. We provide care to adults, and to patients as young as age twelve. Our programs include inpatient, outpatient and medication-assisted treatment for adults, and residential and inpatient treatment for children and adolescents. These programs are designed to help adults, children and teens learn the necessary skills to regain confidence, heal and successfully function at home, work, school and in their communities.

Primary Responsibilities

• Review, verify, and dispense medication orders to ensure appropriateness, safety, and accuracy
• Provide clinical pharmacy services, including medication therapy management and pharmacokinetic dosing and monitoring
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and care teams to optimize medication regimens for hospitalized patients
• Oversee sterile and non-sterile compounding activities, ensuring compliance with USP and hospital standards
• Monitor patient outcomes and medication safety, identifying and preventing adverse drug events
• Supervise and support pharmacy technicians and interns, ensuring efficient and compliant workflow
• Ensure regulatory and accreditation compliance, including Joint Commission, state, and federal requirements

Required Qualifications

• ACPE-accredited pharmacy degree (PharmD preferred)
• Active applicable state pharmacist license in good standing
• 1+ years of recent pharmacist experience
• Proven skilled with pharmacy systems and Microsoft Office

The hourly pay for this role will range from $44.00 - $79.00 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
