Summary of Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of the Cancer Center pharmacist include serving as a drug information and clinic resource for all oncology infusion clinics. They will perform clinical reviews of medication orders, chemotherapy checking and compounding, provide drug information support to clinics and infusion areas, and assist with electronic medical record optimization and build. The pharmacists work closely with technical staff, nurses, mid-level providers, and physicians to meet operational, clinical, and research needs. Opportunities exist for resident and student precepting, cross-training, and supporting inpatient oncology services.

  • Full-Time, Variable 1st shift, M-F with possible weekend coverage

Impact on Patient Care

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Processing medication orders and prescriptions.
  • Supervising technicians for medication dispensing.
  • Delivering pharmaceutical care for patient outcomes.

  • Providing age-appropriate care following guidelines.

Minimum Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy with B.S. or Pharm.D.
  • Current North Carolina pharmacist license in good standing.
Preferred Qualifications
  • PGY1 residency completion; PGY2 Oncology Residency or Board Certification preferred.
  • 2-4 years oncology experience preferred.
  • Experience in hematology, oncology, and IV sterile compounding preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, communication, and teamwork skills.
