Job summary

Hispanic Alliance for Career Enhancement in Roxboro, NC seeks a Staff Pharmacist to lead safe dispensing, provide patient counseling, and support immunization efforts.

You will supervise bench shifts, cover as primary pharmacist, manage inventory, ensure regulatory compliance, and collaborate with the pharmacy team to deliver quality care.

Qualifications

  • Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list.

Responsibilities

  • Dispense medications safely and counsel patients.
  • Immunize patients and train staff on immunization practices.
  • Cover shifts as pharmacist-on-duty and support pharmacy manager.
  • Ensure accurate prescription fulfillment and safety procedures.
  • Manage inventory and maintain cold chain as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with state Board of Pharmacy regulations.

Job Purpose and Summary

Staff Pharmacists play a critical role in cultivating a culture of excellence in their pharmacy by acting as a role model for all, demonstrating genuine care, and setting the bar for the pharmacy team.

Responsibilities
  • Living our purpose by managing and improving patient health through safe dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices.
  • Overseeing the pharmacy as proxy during bench shifts, strengthening performance measures, coaching staff, and providing feedback to the Pharmacy Manager.
  • Assuming the Pharmacy Manager’s day‑to‑day duties when serving as the only or primary pharmacist‑on‑duty.
  • Supporting safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following workflow procedures and safety guardrails.
  • Contributing to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and coaching the team to do the same.
  • Offering and delivering immunizations; engaging pharmacy technicians in immunizing training.
  • Managing pharmacy inventory, ensuring cold chain protection, and following inventory best practices.
  • Ensuring compliance with state Board of Pharmacy regulations, escalating issues to the Pharmacy Manager or Rx DL.
  • Remaining flexible for scheduling; supporting schedule creation if directed.
  • Maintaining clinical and technical skills, pursuing training and CME opportunities.
  • Providing pharmacist‑delivered clinical care such as testing and prescribing services where permissible.
  • Complying with federal and state laws, professional standards, and CVS policies, including controlled substance dispensing and record‑keeping.

    • Use and understand verbal and written communication to interact with patients and colleagues.

    • Apply math to solve a problem, such as determining the total number of tablets to dispense and the day's supply.
  • Issue Resolution:
    • Identify challenging patient or colleague interactions and choose the best course of action when faced with multiple options.
  • Physical Demands:
    • Be mobile and remain upright for extended periods of time.
    • Lift, scan, and bag items.
    • Reach overhead; stretch or reach out with the body, arms, and/or legs to grasp items.
    • Move fingers repetitively; picking, pinching, typing, or otherwise working primarily with fingers.
    • Extend hand(s) and arm(s) multiple directions.
    • Control precision; quickly adjust machines to exact positions.
    • Stoop to a considerable degree, using lower extremities and back muscles.
    • Close visual acuity to perform activities such as transcribing, reading, or inspecting small parts.
    • Lifting up to 20 lbs. and/or exerting up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally; frequently up to 10 lbs.; normally negligible force.
    • Express or exchange ideas by spoken word where detailed or important instructions must be conveyed accurately.
    • Receive detailed information through oral communication.
  • Any additional tasks as directed by Supervisor or Manager.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1‑2 years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
  • Ability to work in other locations across the market as business needs require.
