Job Purpose And Summary

Responsibilities
  • Living our purpose by managing and improving patient health through safe dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices
  • Taking direction from the Pharmacy Manager and overseeing the pharmacy as their proxy during bench shifts, strengthening performance measures through coaching and consistent follow‑up
  • Assuming the Pharmacy Manager’s day‑to‑day duties when serving as the only or primary pharmacist‑on‑duty
  • Supporting safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by directing pharmacy workflow procedures and utilizing safety guardrails at every workstation
  • Contributing to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and coaching the team to do the same, collaborating with the patient’s healthcare team, and proactively resolving insurance or medication issues
  • Offering and delivering immunizations, engaging and supporting Pharmacy Technicians in learning to immunize
  • Managing pharmacy inventory, following best practices, and protecting cold chain products
  • Partnering with the Pharmacy Manager to ensure compliance with state Board of Pharmacy regulations, escalating issues as needed
  • Remaining flexible for scheduling and business needs, supporting the manager in writing the pharmacy schedule if directed
  • Maintaining relevant clinical and technical skills, seeking opportunities to expand knowledge to better support patients
  • Providing pharmacist‑delivered clinical care such as testing and prescribing services (e.g., COVID/Flu, Hormonal Contraception) where permissible, empowering the team to provide holistic care
  • Understanding and complying with all federal and state laws, regulations, and professional standards; complying with CVS Health policies for patient safety and controlled‑substance dispensing and record‑keeping
Required Qualifications
  • Active Pharmacist License in the state where the Store is located
  • Active National Provider Identifier (NPI)

Essential Functions
  • Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
  • Ability to complete required training within the designated timeframe
  • Attention and Focus: ability to concentrate, pivot quickly, confirm prescription information and label accuracy to ensure patient safety
  • Customer Service and Team Orientation: actively look for ways to help people in a friendly manner, notice and respond to patient reactions appropriately
  • Communication Skills: use verbal and written communication with patients and colleagues, practice active listening, ask questions, and avoid inappropriate interruptions
  • Mathematical Reasoning: use math to solve problems such as calculating total tablets, day’s supply, or additional bottles needed
  • Issue Resolution: identify challenging interactions and choose the best course of action among multiple options
  • Physical Demands: be mobile and remain upright for extended periods, lift, scan, and bag items, reach overhead, use fingers repetitively, extend arms multiple directions, control precision, stoop as required, maintain visual acuity for small tasks, lift up to 20 lbs occasionally, lift up to 10 lbs frequently, convey and receive detailed oral information
  • Any additional tasks as directed by Supervisor or Manager
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1–2 years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
  • Ability to work in other locations across the market as business needs require
