Within our Retail locations, our Staff Pharmacists play a critical role in cultivating a culture of excellence by acting as a role model, demonstrating genuine care, and setting the bar for the pharmacy team.

Responsibilities
  • Live our purpose by helping to manage and improve patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices.
  • Take direction from the Pharmacy Manager and oversee the pharmacy as their proxy during bench shifts, including strengthening pharmacy performance measures through coaching and consistent follow‑up.
  • Assume the Pharmacy Manager’s day‑to‑day duties when serving as the only or primary pharmacist‑on‑duty.
  • Support safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following—and directing the pharmacy team to follow—pharmacy workflow procedures and utilizing safety guardrails at every workstation.
  • Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care, coaching the pharmacy team to do the same, collaborating with the patient’s health team, and proactively resolving insurance or medication issues.
  • Proactively offer and deliver immunizations, engaging and supporting Pharmacy Technicians to learn to immunize.
  • Support the effective management of pharmacy inventory by coaching the team to follow all inventory best practices, focusing on protecting cold‑chain products.
  • Partner with the Pharmacy Manager to ensure compliance with state Board of Pharmacy regulations, escalating issues or concerns to the Pharmacy Manager or Rx DL for timely resolution.
  • Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, supporting the Pharmacy Manager by writing the pharmacy schedule when directed.
  • Maintain relevant clinical and technical skills as the industry evolves, seeking opportunities to expand knowledge to better support patients.
  • Support access to care and improve patient outcomes through pharmacist‑delivered clinical care such as testing and prescribing services when permissible.
  • Understand and comply with all federal and state laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles; comply with CVS Health policies, controlled substance dispensing, record‑keeping, patient privacy, and workplace safety.
Required Qualifications
