Role Overview

The Pharmacy Manager Emerging Leader (PMEL) plays a critical role in cultivating a culture of excellence in their pharmacy by acting as a role model for all, demonstrating genuine care, and setting the bar for the pharmacy team, while developing their own leadership skills in preparation for increasing responsibility. As a PMEL, you will build upon your skills and responsibilities as a Staff or District Support Pharmacist and build additional competencies to become ready for a Pharmacy Manager (PM) role.

Training and Development

You will complete a self-paced, collaborative training roadmap with both virtual and hands-on learning experiences to prepare you to lead a pharmacy independently. Program length depends on prior leadership experience but is typically completed within 3-6 months for most Pharmacy Manager candidates. During this time, you will continue delivering our purpose, modeling our values, and demonstrating genuine, authentic care for our patients.

Key Responsibilities

1. Support the home store Pharmacy Manager by exhibiting best practices, including quarterbacking the team, providing patient counseling, and abiding by all legal and regulatory guidelines.
2. Assume greater accountability for the pharmacy's operations, including managing patient health, overseeing pharmacy performance, and supporting safe prescription fulfillment.
3. Contribute to positive patient experiences through empathetic care, collaboration with healthcare teams, and proactive issue resolution.
4. Support immunization efforts and inventory management, especially cold chain products.
5. Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and CVS policies, escalating issues as needed.
6. Maintain clinical and technical skills, seeking opportunities to expand knowledge and support patient care.
7. Support access to care through pharmacist-delivered clinical services where permissible.
8. Support a safe, inclusive, and engaging team environment, including scheduling and policy adherence.
9. Protect patient privacy and security, ensuring a safe workplace for colleagues.
