Role: Staff Pharmacist

Our Staff Pharmacists play a critical role in cultivating a culture of excellence in their pharmacy by acting as role models, demonstrating genuine care, and setting the bar for the pharmacy team. As a Staff Pharmacist, you support the Pharmacy Manager in leading and directing the pharmacy team, and are accountable for managing, overseeing, and operating all aspects within your pharmacy.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

1. Living our purpose: helping to manage and improve patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices.
2. Supporting pharmacy operations: taking direction from the Pharmacy Manager, overseeing the pharmacy during bench shifts, coaching team members, and providing performance feedback.
3. Assuming managerial duties: acting as the primary pharmacist-on-duty when necessary.
4. Ensuring safety and accuracy: following workflow procedures, utilizing safety guardrails, and supporting safe prescription fulfillment.
5. Enhancing patient experience: demonstrating empathy, collaborating with healthcare teams, and resolving insurance or medication issues.
6. Promoting immunizations: proactively offering and administering vaccines, and supporting pharmacy technicians in immunization procedures.
7. Managing inventory: following best practices, especially for cold chain products.
8. Ensuring compliance: adhering to state and federal regulations, escalating issues as needed, and maintaining compliance with CVS policies.
9. Supporting team and professional development: maintaining clinical skills, seeking knowledge expansion, and supporting a safe, inclusive workplace.
10. Providing clinical care: supporting testing and prescribing services where permissible.
11. Legal and ethical compliance: adhering to all relevant laws, regulations, and standards to ensure patient safety and privacy.
